Gut gelaunter Radio-Indie ... Rock will ich gar nicht schreiben, dafür klingt es viel zu freundlich/frisch/aufgeweckt ... ja das schreit nach vollem Radio-Einsatz ... anywhere - nicht nur Australien !

A solid track from Birds of Tokyo, which would definitely appeal to many of the mums and dads out there #mompop #dadpop.

Forget what I said before, if this is barely listenable, then fine. It's just so disappointing. 2.75

I want The Simpsons to finally end. This is hardly a groundbreaking view, but let me explain. I love The Simpsons, I follow numerous accounts across social media dedicated to endlessly quoting it. Know what basically all of those accounts have in common? They rarely go further than season 11. It needs qualifying that the show is currently in its 27th season, so that's kind of a big wasteland. It's not like it's terrible now either, I mean, they get a good joke in every now and then, but it's hardly the rapid-fire comic wit of the mid '90s classics. But the shame of it is that it tarnishes its legacy. I find when young people mention The Simpsons, they think of it as tired and stale, and why wouldn't they? They won't remember the glory era, and if they do, it's muddled in with so many duds (funny thing is, while most people separate around Season 11 as good - bad, my strongest association is that S11 is the first season I remember being new, everything before is a jumbled up mess for me that I can only distinguish by animation quality). You say you're a fan of it, you immediately have to qualify that statement otherwise you'll get a weird look.

But this will no longer be a problem if it finally ends its run. Because when that does happen, there will no longer be any need to focus on the newest developments, it'll be entered in the canon of greats that may have their shaky periods, but it's easily overlooked. This is true in music too. Just look at R.E.M., all their classic albums were released within 10 years, but they kept going as a band for another 20 years. Say you're an R.E.M. fan and no one is gonna immediately point to "Accelerate" or "Around The Sun", rather instead how great "Murmur" or "Document" were (some fans don't even rate "Automatic For The People", so they're potentially overlooking two thirds of their discography!). I like Muse but they make themselves increasingly mockable as the years go by. When they call it a day, I think their reputation will improve somewhat as everyone will pay most attention to albums 2 through 4 (give or take an album on each end, depending on the person).

I think you get where I'm going with this.

...they don't even sound like a real band anymore.

Close encounters of the bland kind. There's not much to get excited about here.

Erinnert an Radio-Pop/Rock im Stil von Coldplay, wenn Coldplay nicht so verdammt nervig und langweilig wäre. Immer wieder gerne gehört, wenn auch die Band sicher deutlich bessere Lieder / Singles hat.

The strings are nice I guess? Otherwise there's not a lot else going on of interest. It's not as dull as "Anchor", but that's not saying a lot. I'm not sure why it even got higher than "Anchor" on ARIA, it sounds more like a one week top 50 entry. A shame it didn't end up that way.
