Der Film ist in der Tat nicht weiter aufregend. Aber durch die Musik bekommt er fast schon die Qualität einer Parodie. Beides gehört zusammen. Insbesondere fällt das auf beim Flash-Theme und beim Battle-Theme. Und ich weiss nicht, was man über eine Filmmusik besseres sagen soll als dass sie die Optik so ergänzt, dass beides zusammen besser ist als jeder einzelne Bestandteil. | |
Man sollte das Album nicht als reguläres Queen Album ansehen, sondern eher als Soundtrack zu einem Film und da passt es ziemlich gut. Der Film ist natürlich absoluter Trash, aber da können Queen nichts für. | |

Den Sci-Fi-Fantasy-Streifen nach Vorlage der Comics von Alex Raymond - ein typischer Dino-de-Laurentiis der frühen 80er, btw - liebe ich auch heute noch, genauso wie die Musik dazu. Neben dem QUEEN-bekannten Rock von The Hero und dem Titelsong, sowie den hymnenhaften Synthie-Klängen vom Football Fight, beeindruckt hier vor allem The Kiss, samt den Orchestrationen und Freddies unvergleichlicher Stimme. Damit nicht genug. Das Ming-Thema wirkt passend schön diabolisch. Nur als gelungen kann man auch die hier und da eingeworfenen Dialoge aus dem Film beschreiben und wenn Brian erstmal mit seiner Red Special den Hochzeitsmarsch spielt ... Ähnlich wie später beim funkigen Hot Space stießen QUEEN mit diesem OST wohl einige Fans vor dem Kopf. Auf der anderen Seite beeindruckt das Album aber auch wiederum Musikbegeisterte, die mit dem restlichen Schaffenswerk der Band eher wenig anfangen können. Flash Gordon, der Soundtrack, ist eben ein Ausnahmewerk und dennoch QUEEN durch und durch :-) | |

Die instrumentalen Titel des Soundtracks bekommen eine 3. Als Untermalung des Films ist es ja ok, aber nicht als Musik zum Anhören. Den Titelsong bekommt man auch anders. | |

Sogar als Soundtrack total grottig. Wie der Film, der damals total verrissen wurde und ein echter Flop gewesen sein muss | |
Die mit abstand schwächste Queen-Scheibe. Doch es sei ihnen verziehen, ist ja schliesslich der Soundtrack zu einem schrägen Film. |
